Fastener Welding Video – Projection welding of fasteners to hot stamped boron steel using a capacitor discharge resistance welder:

Fastener welding of softer weld nuts and studs to press hardened AlSi coated steels can be difficult. With there large variations in hardness, projections in the fastener will collapse prior to a good weld being made. The end result is usually vaporized projections and extended weld times in an effort to forge the materials. Furthermore, when this type of weld process is incorporated, the end result is weak, inconsistent torque and push-out values.

Weld Systems Integrators has proven results and welding solutions to hot stamped boron and other press hardened materials using capacitor discharge resistance welding.

What is Capacitor Discharge Resistance Welding?

Weld Systems Integrators manufacturers capacitor discharge spot welding machines for a variety of processes, including projection welding of fasteners to hot stamped boron steel. We manufactured our first capacitor discharge resistance welder in 2007. That CD welder is still in production today.
